Jurassic World Rebirth looks great and has some fun moments, but it does not hit as hard as the older films. On its own, it is an enjoyable watch. The acting is good, the story moves well, and shooting on film gives it a nice look. But as part of such a big franchise, it feels like something is missing. There is no big moment that sticks with you after it ends.
I actually liked the new family more than the original cast. The legacy characters felt like they were just added in without much reason. The new characters had better chemistry and more heart. Duncan stood out the most, and their story gave the movie some real emotion.
Speaking of dinosaurs, the T Rex scene was killer, and every aquatic dinosaur moment, especially with the mosasaur, had me wide eyed. But the D Rex was barely on screen. That felt like a missed opportunity, especially when the trailer teased it as the next big thing. The action never quite reached the level of chaos and intensity we saw in the original trilogy. I kept waiting for that one jaw dropping sequence, but it never arrived.
Scarlett Johansson’s character was a bit grating at first, though she grew on me eventually. I had her priorities straight, chasing that bag, and honestly I respect it. The film does stumble in the final act, becoming a bit sloppy and rushed. Still, there is enough heart and spectacle to make it worth the ride.
