From the first frame, it felt like returning to a beloved story with a fresh twist. The live action version carried the same spirit that made the animated How to Train Your Dragon so special. I went in with low expectations after the trailer made me think it was just another remake. By the end, I was smiling ear to ear in the theatre.
It stays faithful to the original story while adding an energy that makes it feel brand new. Berk’s landscapes are full of life, from the crashing waves below to the endless skies above. The dragon flight scenes with that unforgettable music gave me goosebumps. Toothless looked and moved with such realism that it was like meeting him for the first time again.
The actors were perfectly chosen. They brought heart and authenticity to roles fans already loved. Hiccup and Toothless still share one of the best friendships in cinema. The moment Toothless let Hiccup pat him was one of the film’s most touching highlights.
For live-action remakes, Universal has established a new benchmark. They respected every detail of the story while using the format to create breathtaking visuals. I felt the same sense of nostalgia as when I first saw it. By the credits, I knew this would be one of my favorite cinema experiences of the year.
