From the very first death, Final Destination Bloodlines makes one thing clear. It is here to remind you why this franchise still slaps after all these years. The kills are outrageously creative, but what truly surprised me was the shift. This time, there is an actual story with real tension and some hilarious moments too.
I went in expecting more of the same, but this might be the best entry in the series. It still follows the classic formula where death comes for everyone in a weird order, but this one has personality. Richard Harmon is excellent, and Kaitlyn Santa Juana brings such good comedic timing. The backyard barbecue scene is pure chaos and might be one of my favorite death scenes in the series.
What I loved most was the tone. Bloodlines knows it is ridiculous and instead of hiding that, it embraces it completely. The directors found a weirdly perfect mix of craziness and emotion. The deaths are still gnarly, but now they are part of a story that actually matters, not just a countdown of who dies next.
Not everything works. The CGI gets a bit out of control, especially when you start noticing weird green reflections on everyone’s faces. And the movie rushes a little too fast into the ending without letting it breathe. Still, these are minor flaws in a film that mostly delivers everything you want.
Final Destination Bloodlines is fun, freaky, and full of energy. It respects what came before but adds just enough new ideas to keep things fresh. For longtime fans, this is the comeback we have been waiting for.
