I was excited when I saw Ziam was coming to Netflix. The trailer gave off Train to Busan energy, and I was all in for a Thai twist on the zombie genre.
This was actually my first Thai horror movie with zombies, and sadly… it left me kinda disappointed.
The biggest letdown? The story. Or honestly, the lack of it. I never got to know the characters, no backstory, no depth. Just chaos. So when things went downhill, I didn’t feel anything for them.
More than half the film is just the main guy, Singh, running through a hospital while the dead keep piling up. No answers. No emotional pull. Just… noise.
They show that the virus arose from an unusual fish that was eaten by someone. And somehow water makes the zombies stronger? I was confused more than scared.
And that ending, after getting shot, burned, blown up… is Singh really still alive?
Ziam had the potential. But it just swam too far into the deep end without giving us a reason to care.
